How to prepare for an MRI and a X-ray CT scan?

The examination of the abdominal organs is performed on an empty stomach. Patients must not eat and drink anything six (6) hours prior to your appointment.

  • X-ray Computed Tomography

  • Any medical test with the injection of intravenous iodinated contrast media for RCT requires creatinine and urea tests that are not older than 1 month old. It is necessary to check whether a patient is allergic to iodine. If they have an allergy, they must consult an allergist.

  • MRI of the female pelvic organs: the day before the examination, a patient should take 2-3 tablets of drotaverine (No-spa) to inhibit the intestinal peristalsis.

  • Patients must bring the results of the examinations they have undergone.

  • There is a weight limit for any MRI – a maximum of 100 kg.

  • A patient must bring their identification, medical policy and SNILS .

  • MRI or X-ray CT are carried out if a patient had a bowel movement or cleaned their intestine (by having an enema or by taking special medications).
